Last week, my partner Jesse Kivel released a song and accompanying music video, I Sat On A Ridge. It’s his first release in three years and he came to it with all the patience and intention that that sounds like. It’s also the first single off of an entire record (with two LPs involved! ready for preorders!), aptly titled Life And Death At Party Rock.
And so, with that in mind, I asked him to make a little playlist for us today, riffing off a sort of collage of phrases that recently landed in my inbox. I was writing with my friend and photographer Laure Joliet about some photographs we’re running in the next print installment of Treehouse. Laure described the collection as something to do with “texture, Maine, some sheets, the feeling of summer into fall, grief, nostalgia, the sublime.”
It’s very rare that an email will just go ahead and take your breath away! But there you have it. Laure! And so—after the jump, Jesse’s sonic interpretation of that very real, very much happening right now, feeling.
