Ok fun and finest friendsโhere comes the next print zine. Or, at least, a lil digital preview to get you and your mailboxes prepared and excited for yours.
As a reminder, print zines go out (more or less) monthly to what Substack calls Founding Members and what we call โPaid + Printโ when you see the subscription page. Regular paid subs get other stuff, just consult that signup page for more details.
Onward! Inward!
Speaking of fun and finest friends, this monthโs cover features a painting by my oldest-time pal, artist Louise Sheldon. We had a lot of fun adapting this trippy portrait of her dog Roky submerged in classic checkerboard tablecloth. It was printed on a risograph printer (all the covers are, if youโre new here!!) monochromatically using Florescent Pink, which is always such a fun color to work with. Looks great and is just great in-hand.
Inside, another fine and fun friend Allison Cekala shares some stunning black and white photos she took at a slate quarry in Monson, Maine. Itโs really surprising how much personality chunks of rock can hold. Seriously, spend some time with these photos. When we were figuring out the layout for this story, we started giving the various โguysโ nicknames, seeing who matches best with whom. Allison is a photographer, filmmaker and painter (more painting recently), who currently has work up at CMCA nearby in Rockland, Maine.
Last a little project I whipped up, once I found out thatโof course!โpolymer clay is heat resistant. So: some Sculpey trivets needed to happen. Tried out a few shape and color ideasโฆ If anyone ends up trying this, let me know what you come up with. I already feel like I have possibly at least two more ideas! Possibilities being endless and all that.

If you have 5.5 million dollars, you could buy John Goodmanโs house in Louisiana, which APPARENTLY he bought from Trent Reznor for $1.1M in 2005 (!). (LINK)
This color of Kei truck seems to get snapped upโbut hereโs an available one. The orange is pretty, pretty nice too. (LINK)
Plant some of these mystery seeds and see what happens. (LINK)
