HERE COMES THE NEXT ISSUE OF TREEHOUSE
Are you thrilled?
I am thrilled.
Letβs get to it, shall we?
Our cover artist for the month is the unbeatable Elizabeth Atterbury, Maine-based artist working in many, many mediums. She kindly lent one of her very blue (we love) paper pieces for the cover, which we tweaked and adjusted for the risograph printer. The result is so, so beautiful. I am especially fond of how the parts of the original piece that were in relief came through as a flat image. Thank you Elizabeth!
In the zine, we have a little culinary noodling from yours truly: A butter and radish terrine. Butter + radish + bread + salt, a combination popularize by Ze French, is one of my all-time favorite things to snack on. In this version, you essentially make a loaf of butter and radish, slice real thin, put on bread, sprinkle with flaky salt, exult in complicating such a beautifully simple luxury.
After that, we have a contribution from Halley Strongwater, herbaceous stalwart1 behind Loamβan incredible one-stop-shop for all plant needs, from topicals and cosmetics, to helpful and potent tinctures. I am such a pusher of the Centered Kid Magic Drops that my children have gone full One Flew Over The Cuckooβs Nest paranoid and are now high-key skeptical of my motivesβwhich is fair. For the issue, Halley cooked up some olive leaf tea on a recent trip to Arcosanti in Arizona. The tea has all sorts of helpful medicinal properties and is also, frankly, just a fun thing to do.
As usual, we dip into the Met archives for our final page. Youβll have to flip through a copy to see what that is. :)
Otherwise, here are some other next options for you to consider:::
Listing Number One will have to be our slipcases, of course. If you are sick of hearing about them, that sounds like a potential you problem? We have a few remaining, both with and without zines inside. Come on down! π (LINK)
Do I have any grandparents who are readers?? If so, hereβs a great opportunity to be, like, the best one. (LINK)
Can you be a fan of a real estate agency? Just LOOK at this (sadly, now off-market) handmade artist residence. Cool. (LINK)
Ever been like, man, I wish my toilet was more like a chair? Well, now youβre covered. Or, rather, your toilet is. (LINK)
