Well buds, the time is here (sorta)! Zine files have been lovingly WeTransfered into the graceful and capable hands of Penmor in Lewiston, Maine; the cover, printed by equally graceful and capable, Risolve Studio of Pennsylvania, has already been returned and is here. Shortly: I’ll be a nightmare of folding and stapling and then (!) these nice little zines will make their way to you.
Special shoutout goes to sweetest (graceful, capable…) friend Maeve, who did an outsized amount of handholding and supporting while I navigated printing setbacks. And she let me come to her house and touch a lot of paper. ❤️
Those who have already pledged (thank you!) and those who are generally the curious type may both be wondering: What’s in this first issue of Treehouse? I thought you might never ask and I’m very happy to fill you in, finally.
Ty
This month’s cover comes from new-to-me pal, Ty Williams. Ty also put together a great playlist, available shortly to paid subscribers only, called “Let’s Thaw”—a sentiment that I couldn’t agree with more.
Each cover of Treehouse will be designed by a different artist and printed on a Risograph printer. These editions are limited by nature—so in buying a zine, you are also acquiring an exciting piece of art. If you want, you could detach the cover and hang it up!
DIY
This month, I made a concrete pedestal table for my three season porch/room. In the zine, I outline that process and the materials used. It’s easy, relatively cheap, and (I think) looks pretty good. Plus, it’s fun and very physical to mix concrete.
Pie
Friends of Treehouse, Double Grazie, the Italian confection outfit of Midcoast Maine, filled us in on Pasquetta. It’s a pastural, post-Easter holiday hang that involves lounging in a field with friends and eating leftover pie. The intersection of so many dreams.
Cry1
David Kitz, still life photographer and, yes, friend of Treehouse (this newsletter is just to talk about how great friends are?), shot an truly incredible photo essay called “Errands.” Hardware store, dry cleaner, bodega! If only errands actually looked this good, hey.
@AmbreaKai
Lastly, not leastly, a recurring column from Ambrea Miller called “Soft Memes.” Ambrea consistently posts things on her IG that make me chuckle, using the gentlest of touches. Most of the time.
Some housekeeping: Pledged supporters, I’m going to turn “paid” on at the top of next week, so be on the lookout for that. If everything is set up correctly (eek), you should get an email with a link to a Typeform, where you will enter your address.

Remember that plaid couch we all lost it for when Ali LaBelle came to visit? I don’t know why, but there is an astonishing number of similar wood framed couches available in Chicago. Why? We just don’t know. (LINK, LINK, LINK)
I wonder about actually having the nerve to stay in a treehouse, after all. Anyone feeling bold? (LINK)
Still haven’t found what I’m looking for door-wise, but I can share the fruits of my door search with you! Here are some salvaged doors and other things from Architectural Antiquities here in Maine. (LINK)
As in “I could cry, David’s photos are so, so good.”
