I have waxed many a coat (and a few bags). I like to use a hairdryer to get the wax evenly distributed.

Perfect! It really is the best, but once you start thinking in wax terms can you ever stop? To wit: Just about to wax a duck canvas outdoor cushion that was supposed to be able to wick water but hasn’t been successful.

zinziiii, how do you always know exactly the topics my brain has been noodling on but needed a little push to find materials/get started? your picnic situation is particularly brilliant! and overalls to snow pants - yes! this past season i wore military wool trousers & a pair of liner pants and was delighted to see how not-wet i got while sledding :) thanks for another push to keep investigating water-proofing!

Ani!! That's amazing, glad I showed up with all this jabbering right when I did :)

Also: I know, is there nothing wool can't do? There's a pair of merino sweatpants that I wear under the overall "shell." Have never been cold in this combo, totally sufficient!

Let me know what/when you end up putting wax on things!
