One of the top delights of writing this here publication is when people get in touch to say they did a project I mentioned or used one of my posts as a resource—or that it maybe sparked a new idea altogether.
This morning, Amanda messaged to ask about last year’s towel round-up (and exploration of jacquard weaving therein). A month or so ago, Kirsten added a comment to the post outlining my process for washing and putting wool clothes away for the season (there was also an IG post back then of someone who said something along the lines of “IDK, Zinzi made me do it.”)
Aaron’s son Nate saw a project in the little newspaper that goes out to paid subs before their 1-year renewal (something to look forward to 😉) and it has sparked wild woodworking production at their house!
Several people let me know they bought historic New England stencils to use in adorning their walls, after one very early the post on the subject. Many, many people were swayed by my love letter to American Floor Mats.
It goes on, but if I do, I’ll start to sound too irritating and braggy (new buzzword in our house is “smug”), so we’ll end it there and move on to you.
I wanted to open up a little space here, an invitation, to talk about whatever it is you’re working on over in your corner of the world. Doesn’t necessarily have to be Treehouse-inspired! Just sort of a: Show your putter!
I’ll start: Mostly, I’m outside right now. Doing a little perennial planting project, hoping to please the bees and butterflies in the process. Searching about cardboard mulching a lot—is it good? Is it not? As my dad says, “Everybody’s got a rap.” Soon: Turning my attention to this amazing sunroom that came with our house but hasn’t gotten much shine yet. Needs include: mouse evidence to be removed, scrape/sand and repaint coffee table (maybe marine paint?), and I have plans for a floorcloth (à la this post!) as well. Sit down? Never heard of her.
You next! Please, pop a comment down there and let me know whatch’a up to!
My jaw hit the floor when I saw this octagonal house go on the market nearby. (LINK) So, of course, I needed to find more eight-sided houses available for purchase… (LINK, LINK, LINK, LINK)
In other octagonal news: This? (LINK)
Really good windows. (LINK)
If you find yourself in Ojai, CA this weekend! (LINK)
I’ve never seen, or maybe never noticed, an octagonal house. Very cool.
garden, garden, garden - bt the brassicas, design an anti-bunny and maybe even anti-chipmunk fence for a raised bed, finish getting the sets all in, cut the grass and for relaxation - open the beautiful etched circa 1950 glasses dropped off by a buy nothing member
